Spring Groups

GRC is pleased to offer group sessions for the spring. The groups being offered are designed as group process, not therapy groups.  There will be an educational component and will include opportunity for group discussion and reflection.  If you have need for more individualized care or could benefit from direct therapy, then a referral can be made to one of GRC’s care providers. The group lengths vary from 6 to 7 weeks and costs are based on $35.00 per session with payment required prior to beginning of sessions. Payment plans are available upon request. All groups require 4 to 6 participants and are held on a secure video-conferencing platform.

Registration CLOSED.

What are boundaries? How do we care for others appropriately and serve them the best way that we can while also protecting our own well-being? What do we do when boundaries are crossed with the people that we love and serve? Is there a way to get things back to the way they once were?

In this 6 week group you, along with other male global workers, will have the opportunity to learn about types of boundaries, how to implement those boundaries, and how to maintain emotional well-being as you care and nurture others in your family and work. This is a great opportunity to learn, give and receive feedback, and grow in how you engage with others around you. Do you ever struggle with feeling anger, despair, or fear? Do you feel ashamed for having these feelings, particularly in relationship with God? Do these feelings lead you to beat yourself up for being inadequate and isolate yourself from God and loved ones, or do these feelings lead you into intimacy with God and others?

If you would like to deepen your ability to wrestle well with God through the dark emotions in the context of the Psalms, join us in this 6 week group. Based on the book, The Cry of the Soul by Allender and Longman, we will explore the role of emotions; use the Psalms as our guide; and practice relationships in the context of this group.

Preventing Burnout (co-educational)

Is burnout getting in the way of fulfilling your calling, or are you on track to burn out?

What happens when you hit a wall where you can't give anymore without being refilled yourself? How does this affect your relationships with your team, your family, with those you are called to serve? When we use up our energy resources without allowing ourselves to recharge, we tend to burn out, or break down over time. How can we keep from getting to that point?

We are designed as whole beings: body, mind, emotions, and spirit. What would it take for you to arrive at a place where you feel filled up physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually and out of that fullness, can better love and serve others?

In this group, you can meet with fellow global workers to address how to care for yourself in each of these areas to help prevent (or recover from) burnout. We’ll explore what you’re doing now in each area, helping you develop and implement a life giving action plan of rhythms and skills to sustain you in serving long-term.

Relationships are one of our greatest sources for both joy and distress. How often do people come to you for help with their lives and relationships? Do you ever struggle to know what to say or how best to help them?

In this 7-week group, based on the book Help Me Help Others by Dr. Larry Wagner, we will learn practical tools to help others:

  • Receive and extend God’s love

  • Trust the Spirit-guided process of transformation

  • Experience genuine forgiveness

  • Learn how to grow closer through conflict

You will be encouraged to reflect on how these principles apply to your own life and relationships, and also better equipped to help others who come to you in distress.

If you have questions regarding these groups, contact Erik Troyer.
